Electromagnetic Radiation Dangers
Exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMFs) can constitute a serious health risk depending on conditions of the exposure and the exposed subject’s genetic predisposition. Exposure to electromagnetic radiation may cause neurological, dermatological, cardiac, ophthalmological and other serious conditions.
All health issues will be affected to some degree by exposure to EMF radiation, whether electric, magnetic or wireless radiation, since it weakens the immune system.
Pregnant women and children are at greater risk of electrical and wireless electromagnetic radiation. A recent International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) report suggested that EMF exposures can be more devastating in children because their brain tissue is more conductive, their skull is thinner, because smaller brains and softer brain tissue allow radiation to penetrate more effectively.
Testing the EMF radiation in your environment is the only way to know what levels you are exposed to.
Tips for Restful Sleep
Make sure the bedroom is not close to high tension electric wires or transformers outside.
More restful sleep in the bedroom can be obtained for everyone by eliminating all electrical devices and wiring in the immediate area.
Remove, unplug or move back at least 3 feet from your bed, all electrical devices and wiring in your bedroom. This includes: little transformers plugged into the wall, lights such as fluorescent, halogen, and high intensity reading lights, electric blankets and heating pads. Electric alarm clocks should not be placed on bedside tables.
Lamps of metal body construction should not be used for bed lamps. The lamp bodies should be totally made of wood, glass or ceramic - no external metal except the tube going through the middle of the lamp to the bulb socket. Any metal in the lamp or appliance will pick up and radiate the electrical field all the time, like an antenna!
Keep all lamps’ wiring as far from your body as possible where you sleep. There is a magnetic field in and around equipment when it is operating; however the electric field is in the wires all the time any time the electrical device is plugged in.
The dimmer switch, or dimmer lamp, puts out a strong pulsing, choppy field when it is used, affecting every wall plug in the circuit they are in. Best to not have dimmer switches in areas where you sleep.
Electric heaters, portable and baseboard produce EMFs. Keep your distance from electric heaters and do not place a child's bed immediately beside an electric baseboard heater.
